Wonder-boy Roy Krishna was the hero of the Fiji soccer team as the Juan Carlos Buzzetti coached side defeated Play Fair Brazil 1-0 in their second and last friendly at Govind Park this afternoon and leveled the series 1-1.

Krishna struck in the 31st minute of the first spell after Ilisoni Logaivou, Taione Kerevanua and Ilimotama Jese combined well in midfield to send a through pass to the Siberia lad who beat the experienced Brazilian defence and goalie Fabio Santiago in style.

The Fijians clinged on to their lead at halftime and stern pep talk by Buzzetti at the break saw the hosts approach the second spell with more commitment, dedication and focus.

Debutant goalie Jone Ralulu was the man of the match as he time and again made daring saves to keep a clean sheet and receive heaps of praises from the coaching panel and home crowd.

Captain Paulo Sergio, Giovanni, Emerson da Silva and Claudecir Aguiar toiled hard for the equaliser but Ralulu, together with skipper Taniela Waqa, Samuela Vula and Manueli Kalou stood out and held firm.

Play Fair Brazil defeated Fiji 2-1 in the first match on Thursday night at Lautoka's Churchill Park.

The Play Fair Brazil tour was made possible through a partnership between Edge Management Group and Fiji Football Association and the sponsorship of Vodafone Fiji Limited.

Fiji coaching director Carlos Buzzetti was proud with the national team's performance and credited discipline and smart play in the win.

"It's a proud moment for us," he said. "To secure a feat like we did today is amazing."

Assistant coach Imdad Ali echoed the same sentiments.

"I want to thank the boys from the bottom of my heart. They came here today and did what we hoped they would. They did not fail and its a proud feeling for us all."

Play Fair Brazil manager Marcos Vasconcelos acknowledged the Fiji team for a great game.

"We congratulate the Fiji team. They did great and deserve the win."

The visitors depart tomorrow for their Asia tour.
