The winner of the 2012 Battle Of Giants was determined after 120 minutes of play as Ba defeated Labasa 4-2 in penalty shootout to win the title for the 15th time.

The final gave the spectators the best of football action as both halves and extra time was filled with excitement.

The goalkeepers stood out for the two sides as they time and again made daring saves to keep a clean sheet against them.

And the thrilling final had to come to an end after the shootout with replacement Laisenia Raura netting the decisive spot kick for the Men In Black.

Avinesh Swamy missed the first kick for Ba as Taione Kerevanua put Labasa up with his attempt.

Josefata Neibuli equalised for Ba with the second penalty shot while Apisalome Turuva missed the opportunity to increase Labasa's lead as his attempt went out.

Captain Jone Vesikula put Ba up with the third shot 2-1 but Pita Bolaitoga leveled scores with his shot.

Maviliko Nakama put Ba up 3-2 with his attempt and Captain Taniela Waqa missed his kick to give Ba the chance to lift the title.

All was left to Raura to decide the winner of the tournament and the Sabeto native did not make any mistake with his attempt . Ba won 4-2.

Ba coach Yogendra Dutt was satisfied with the final outcome and said his team played under immense pressure after the red card to Vakatalesau.

"We really were under pressure and I salute my kickers Laisenia Raura and Neibuli as we did not specilaist kickers for penalty and these two boys did not let us down," said Dutt.

"It was a very tough final and the heat took its toll on both set of players. My boys stood firm and survived as they had the fitness."

"Ba was is known for 90-minutes football and this win proves this fact."

Labasa coach Epeli Levaci said it was not their day but added they gave their best in the final.

"We played well but things just did not come our way," he said.

"Fitness drained out and the players were tired. Even for Turuva, I was not too sure whether he would score as his body positioning affected his kick."

"I want to thank all the Labasa fans for their support. This is not the end for us and we will now work hard for the upcoming IDC."
